Standard vs Advanced: which mode to use

Standard is free and lightweight. It's great for straightforward questions during initial screening — customer names, industry verticals, location count.

Use it when you need to screen a long list of companies primarily with basic facts.

Advanced is built for complex questions that require deeper analysis. It draws on more data sources, reasons across them, and returns deep insights.

Advanced mode uses credits for each company enriched. Use it for more complex research questions.

Example questions to ask

Both Advanced and Standard modes support three question types, each designed for different research needs.

Open-ended questions produce narrative analysis. Think competitive positioning, customer base, growth strategy, sell-side stories, risk assessment and more.

Business & Positioning

  • What are their core products?
  • What are the key features of their product?
  • What industry verticals do they focus on?
  • What are their core value propositions?
  • Analyze the company's market position, highlighting competitive strengths and weaknesses.
  • How does this company differentiate itself from competitors?
  • Describe their revenue model and what are their strongest revenue drivers?

Growth & Strategy

  • Build me the “story” for why this business could be sold (I work in M&A and am trying to find buyers for them)
  • Describe the investment history of this company and the likelihood that they will raise funds soon. Look at growth rate and news articles.
  • Does the company aim in growing in the … industry? Highlight any mention of a M&A strategy.

Sell-Side Signals & Reputation

  • Has the company received negative media coverage in the past quarter?
  • Using credible sources (company website, news outlets, etc.), provide me any “gossip” indicators that a company might be willing to sell.
  • Based on your analysis, is the company distressed? Why or why not?
  • What red flags should an investor consider, if any?
  • If the company has had any external investment, calculate the multiples based on the most recent funding or acquisition. Explain the calculation method as well

Customers and Operations

  • Who are some of their customers? Answer in bullet points.
  • Find all of their suppliers and list them in bullet points, naming also what they supply.
  • Which of these companies have upcoming projects indicating high capex/spending?

Outreach

  • Write a highly personalized cold outreach email under 180 words. Context: I am writing because…

Yes/No questions
validate quickly at scale.

  • Do they serve enterprise clients?
  • Do they have customers in the UK?
  • Do they sell hardware solutions?

Structured response questions
return consistent, export-ready responses. Specify the format, e.g. number, 1/0, list separated by |, and the output contains only that, with no extra explanation.

Use this for quick side-by-side comparison, exports, and building graphs in other tools.

  • How many factories does the company operate, and what is their production volume?
  • Which category does this company fall into: Manufacturing, Installation, or Other?
  • Return the estimated EBITDA margin as a percentage number only.
  • Give number of operating locations in the US.
  • Return 1 if the company has customers in Asia, otherwise 0.
  • List all operating locations separated by |

Common use cases

Investment Banking: Build sell-side narratives and map buyer profiles across large target lists. Advanced mode compresses work that would otherwise take an analyst team several days.

Private Equity: Surface sell-side signals, succession indicators, and strategic inflection points earlier. Build conviction before the competition does.

Consulting: Deep company and market analysis at scale. Outputs structured for client materials, not just internal reference.

High-volume screening: Use Standard mode to screen hundreds of companies quickly, then use Advanced mode to run deeper analysis of priority targets.

How enrichment credits work

Standard enrichment is free.

Advanced enrichment uses one credit per company enrichment. Example: running the same enrichment prompt for 10 companies uses 10 credits.

Every organization starts with a base set of enrichment credits included in your subscription. Credit top-ups are available.

Need more credits? Purchase top-ups directly in the platform, or reach out to your Customer Success Manager or Inven contact to learn more.
